The course is designed to provide student-teachers with more specific
skills regarding evaluation, assessment, and test construction. This course
complements previous courses related to L2 methodology, and SLA, and focuses on
enabling students to deal with terminology in the field of assessment and
clarify the ambiguity related to the issue. The course is also concerned with
the design of instruments to appropriately assess language development in an
integrated way, according to the current trends in L2 teaching/learning. The
course also examines policies that
influence assessment, specifically the role of standards in assessment and
teaching, and evaluates Colombian standards comparing them to those from other
countries and continents.

Tasks can be used as the organized principle behind a syllabus. In the same way, projects can enhance the topics to be developed in a syllabus. Tasks, nowadays, are considered the most effective means of promoting learning of languages in the classroom. Tasks and projects are part of wider schemes of work and students will be able to figure out the value of them in their future activities as teachers.
